Every mother/child got a blanket to lay down on the floor to sit on - giving us our own space. She had lots of short songs with actions to go with the theme - apples. She had the words printed out so the parents could sing along. She did each of the songs twice, so the kids could get the hang of it. She read a SHORT book. She also had the kids come up to the front multiple times to get props for the songs and bring them back - breaking up the sitting time. She had an apple-y snack and gave each child a sticker and we were done!
The program is advertised for ages 0-3. They must do a lot of growing up between 1 and 3 because I felt like I was the only one half-wrestling my child to stay on my lap or stay on our blanket or not take the little girl's shaker next to us or whatever. He did LOVE the music, especially watching the teacher do the actions.
Afterwards, we went and played with the toys in the library. Cole loved practicing stepping down off this little step and going and finding things to put in the kitchen's refrigerator - when he could find someone to open it for him (for some reason, the kids around him didn't respond to his sign for "please" :))
That looks like a fun activity.
ReplyDeleteHe looks so stylish!
ReplyDeleteJulie, that's the same thing I was thinking. Cool jeans! Dana, you have so many library times to choose from: Liberal, Sublette and Garden City. Lucky! Cole is an active little boy so it's no fun for him to be still too long. Sounds like the leader knew to keep things SHORT and MOVING. Great!
