5K

Last week, my friend Micah and I woke up early to drive 25 miles to Kismet, KS to run a 7:30 AM race during their Little World's Fair celebration.

Here we are before we begin.  Micah has her work cut out for her with two kids and a double stroller but she does great.

Classic southwest Kansas race image.  It was an "out and back" route down the blacktop south of town.

Here we are after completing the race.  Notice Cole has no shoes or socks.  He took each of the four pieces off periodically throughout the run and threw them on the street.  Luckily his mama was watching!

Notice the refreshment table after the race, complete with water jug and cups, orange slices, and un-iced gatorades.  From what we could tell, it was pretty low-budget, which was kind of endearing.
I'm glad we did it and hope we can find some more to do in the future.  We have our eyes on a few in the surrounding towns.  I'm grateful for a running partner that goes my pace.  When we run around town we always end up at the park and the kids enjoy playing together, which is fun.

  1. Way to go, Dana! and Micah! Did it cost to enter the 5K? Also, what else did they have at the Little World's Fair celebration in Kismet? Interesting title.
