Joel is a chancellor!

We are in Austin this weekend visiting Joel. It's been great as always. One special treat was to go to the ceremony and reception recognizing those law student that were named into the elite group called UT law school Chancellors. We had already picked this weekend to come and purchased our flights even before we knew this was the date chosen for this event.
I didn't have a picture of the whole group but it was 17 people in all. Normally it's a group of 16 people but there was a tie for the GPA in the last two spots. It's approximate the top 5% of the class. There were some short speeches by the Dean of the law school and other professors. One of them referred to the group as "terrifyingly intelligent." Funny words to put together to me. One of the professor's speech went right over my head. I just couldn't follow what he was getting at. I felt better when Joel said he felt the same after the event. I thought maybe you had to be a lawyer-type to get it.
Joel signed a book that has all the chancellors signatures in it from the past 100 plus years. We talked about how 100 years ago someone randomly chose this book to put their signatures in and it's still used today!
He put Kansas City as where he was from but hesitated to put the "MO" by it. He'll always be a Kansan at heart.
We were beyond proud of him. He has worked so hard to achieve what he has! But really all the glory goes to the Lord who gave him the smarts and sustained him through it all. We are so grateful!

  1. Way to go Joel! Good looking AND smart. Good combo! They say the cousin closest to you in age teaches you the most. Just saying...

  2. I also think the Aunt who lives the closest has something to do with it. I agree with Julie on the combo. I am so proud of you in everything you do. Congrats
